Mini Marathons and the Great Paintathon
Posted on 02/07/12 at 3:40 AM by Dave

Well, the website is up and as the first snowflakes begin to fall, it's time once again for long hours in the studio.  I saw snow on the ground on Walton mountain this week, and it's not even November.  Anyway, I've begun my yearly Great Paintathon.  The Great Paintathon is the run from mid-Autumn, shortly after the end of show season, to the Tulip Festival in May, which is the official start of show season every year.  Somehow that pretty much coincides with hockey season, go Sabres.  This year the goals for the Paintathon are 600 minis, 173 barrel staves, 25 regular paintings, one oversized painting, and 30 plaques.  You'll see a regular count on the blog about just how far I've gotten.  I am rather far behind already.

This week, I took a day for a little mini marathon.  Generally the minis are done about ten or so at a time.  A mini marathon is anything above 15 in a day.  Wednesday I did 30 -- from starry skies to hot dogs.  If you're wondering the record is 50 in one day.  I'm hoping to break that record this year.  At any rate, consider Great Paint 2008-2009, officially opened.

Minis: 65 of 60
Barrel Staves: 17 of 173
Paintings: 5 of 25
Large Painting: 0 of 1
Plaques: 0 of 30
