Fall Harvest, (2006) 12x16 inches, pastel
On behalf of everyone at Dave's Art Den, I would like to wish all our fans in the US and around the world a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. We will be doing the traditional turkey days festivities, roast turkey with all the fixings, pumpkin and pecan pie and I imagine wine or cider from our friends at Black Bear Winery. I myself and at the very least taking charge of the stuffing and mashed potatoes (since my mother makes dry lumpy mashed potatoes.
In the studio I am working on my yearly commission of ornaments for the Oneonta, NY chapter of The Compassionate Friends' annual candle lighting service. The Compassionate Friends is a wonderful organization that provides support to families grieving the loss of a child. This is the fourth year I have done ornaments for them. This year they are circular ornaments with a lighted candle and red rose and the phrase "May their light always shine...". Previous ornaments have included angel, a blue butterfly and a candle on an angel shape.
Upcoming in December are the usual Christmas presents, more barrel staves and minis, and lots and lots of work. I hope to get our first newsletter out before Christmas and I plan to put in an application for the Acadia National Park Arist-in-Residence program for next year.
That's all for tonight. Everyone enjoy their turkey and again have a wonderful holiday.
